VGR GameCube Lid Switch Installation Guide
You Will Need:
VGR GameCube Lid Switch
4.5mm Gamebit
Small Phillips screwdriver
---
Disassemble the GameCube:
Remove the 4 screws from the bottom of the console using a 4.5mm Gamebit.

Carefully lift off the top shell.
Remove the rear plate by pulling the top away from the console.

---
Remove the Old Lid Switch:
Locate the switch in the back right corner (when viewing the system straight on).
Remove the single screw holding the original switch. Keep this screw.

Unplug the wire from the switch.
---
Install the New Lid Switch:
Plug the wire into the new switch.
Secure the new switch using the original screw.

Note: If using the switch as a complete bypass, skip to "Bypass Switch" below.
---
Magnet Positioning:
With the back plate off, place the top shell (with the lid open) back onto the system.
Slowly close the lid while watching the switch to see where the lid paddle interacts with the black bar on the switch.

Adjustments:
If the bar doesn't touch the paddle, gently bend the bar forward.

If the bar is below the paddle, contact the seller for a replacement or resolder the bar to a higher position (if using the DIY kit).
---
Attach the Magnet:
Remove the top shell
Clean the paddle with alcohol or a damp cloth and let dry.
Secure the magnet using the provided adhesive, ensuring it aligns with where the black bar interacted with the paddle.

---
Test Magnet Alignment:
With the lid open, place the top shell back onto the system
Insert a game and close the lid.
Turn the system on, wait 10 seconds, then open the lid.
If the placement was successful, the disk will be spinning when first opened then slowly come to a stop.
If successful please skip to reassembly
If unsuccessful, see the troubleshooting section below.
---
Bypass Switch:
If using the VGR lid switch as a traditional switch skip this step.
Turn the bypass switch to the ON position.

With the lid open, place the top shell back on, insert a game, and power the system on.
If successful, the disk will spin with the lid open.

If unsuccessful, see troubleshooting below.
---
Troubleshooting:
Disk isn't spinning?
Double-check magnet placement to ensure it touches the black bar.
If alignment is correct but still no spinning:
Remove the magnet and attach it to either side of the black bar (not the middle).
If it spins, repeat magnet placement troubleshooting.
Turn on the bypass switch; if it spins now, contact the me for a replacement.
If the issue persists contact the me for further assistance.
Disk doesn't stop spinning when the lid opens?
Ensure the bypass switch is switched to the opposite side of ON
Check that the magnet hasn’t detached and stuck to the switch.
Inspect soldering on the wire connector; ensure the 3 barbs are not soldered together.
Unplug the switch and test. If it spins without the switch the issue lies with the system.
---
Reassemble the GameCube:
Reattach the rear plate securely.
With the lid open, place the top shell back on the system.
Secure the 4 original screws back into place.
---
Final Check:
Power on the console to perform a final functionality check.
